Harris Tapestry

Leverhulme Community Hub is proud to be the new home of the Harris Tapestry.  Available to view whenever the Hub is open.

The Harris Tapestry was a project inspired and lead by Gillian Scott-Forrest.  The aim was to celebrate the recent history of Harris by creating a series of tapestries based on different areas of Harris and looking at different historical themes.  All the work was completed by residents of Harris – usually from each of the regions they were working on.

There are nine panels – one giving an overview of Harris and the others looking at Tarbert and Scalpay, The Golden Road, The Bays, Rodel and Leverburgh, Northton, The West Side and Down to Hushinish.
